Sharing Meghan Camello written piece, “To the Friends who left because of My Mental Illness”. (Link below) There is no easy answer on how to handle friendships and mental illness. There are thousands of variables, actions, reactions, situations, etc. that create a specific outcome of a friendship or relationship. It’s not easy for those who battle with mental illness and the ones who are close to those that do. I personally find Meghan’s words very helpful. I have battled with guilt many times and for years over lost friendships, but at some point you need to understand what actions to apologize for and what is just who you are. Know that your mental illness does not define you and that you are loved. And thank you to Meghan Camello for writing such a poignant piece. It truly rung in my heart.
